2IY: The Best DIY of August (and a sneak peek of what's working in September)

August was a busy month for us here at 2IY.   Aside from the ongoing $100 bathroom makeover which included the pallet wood hanging bathroom shelf and a Pottery Barn inspired rope-wrapped dollar store trash can we also managed to fit in a few other fun DIY projects.   Here's a quick recap of some of our favorite from the past month.

Melissa's personalized wood pallet sign makes a huge statement in her dining room and for very little cost.   The best part of that project was making the homemade chalk paint which proved a huge success for this project and the painted nightstand-turned-hall table makeover.

Talk about a statement, the transformation of the bathroom light fixture by replacing the outdated globes with clear mason jars made a dramatic difference in the bathroom.  And since it's hard to overdue mason jars we also loved how they easily turned into DIY soap dispensers. So fun!

Steph's future playroom transformation is nearly complete with the hanging of the heart photo wall gallery.  I can't get over the before and after of the entertainment center-turned-bench.  What a great project!  That's my kind of upcycle.

Far and away our two most popular projects on 2IY this month have been the scrapbook paper covered light switch covers and the inkjet printed beach pillows.  Both of these projects make big differences in the rooms they are in and for very little money.

We've already got a few things in the works for September and we're sure many more projects will pop up along the way.  Our beadboard wallpaper is up and waiting for a coat of paint along with some trim (just wait til you see it!).

We've got a huge over-sized clock for the patio that was made from fence posts...it's just waiting for clock hands and then it will be ready to make it's debut.  And of course, since fall is just around the corner we're working on a bunch of Halloween and fall-inspired decor.  We can't wait to bring them all to you so be sure to check back often to see what we've been working on.

And of course, don't forget to enter our first ever giveaway! We're giving away a pack of monogrammed chevron notecards from Melissa's newly relaunched Etsy store...click here to enter for a chance (or 5) to win!
