If you follow me on Instagram you know I scored a $15 cabinet at my favorite local thrift store. She was UGLY! If you thought the outside was bad, the inside was 100x worse.
There was two different types of peeling and super sticky wall paper over parts of the cabinet and the shelves. There were crumbs that I swear were so old they were petrified. She's looking better already through..nothing a little paint, goo gone, mod podge, and burlap can't fix!
I also gave the hideous light bulb and chain a bit of an upgrade. That came in the way of a $2 DIY light fixture that I made from a set of hanging flower planters I got at the dollar store. I'll share the full tutorial with you real soon. Promise.
There's new paint on the walls and an old floor-standing collapsible drying rack has been converted to a wall mounted drying rack. The tutorial for the wall mounted laundry rack is here.
If you're keeping track so far I've spent a whopping $17. Yup...that's what happens when you shop your house before the store.
- The paint on the walls was left over from our master bathroom renovation project last year.
- The white paint used on the cabinet was also a left over as were the scraps of burlap that are now on the inside back of the cabinet.
- I sprayed painted the hardware with black spray paint I already had on hand.
- As for the drying rack...it had taken up real estate in the storage area of our basement so I feel like that was a win-win. Clean out the storage area and get a new drying rack with little work.
