2 Minute Styrofoam Pumpkin Tea Lights

Mini pumpkin tea lights are always a popular and very cute fall centerpiece. I've made them several times for Halloween/Thanksgiving-time parties and always love how they turn out.  But the problem is you can really only use tea light pumpkins one time, because you know how pumpkins gets once you cut them open.

This year I decided I would make them again, but instead of using real mini pumpkins I would try it with fake ones.   After pulling a few styrofoam pumpkins off a store-bought wreath in order to customize it for a friend, I had a few extra fake pumpkins lying around. (Score!)

The first thing I did was pull off the stem.

Then I took the tea light candle and placed it right in the center.  I used a pencil to trace around the tea light.   (I apologize this is blurry - it's tough taking pictures left-handed.)

Using a knife, I cut right on the outline.  I pushed the knife about an inch into the pumpkin with each cut.   I was pleasantly surprised that the top popped right off in one piece.  

The tea light fit in the cut out perfectly!  I repeated this on two more fake pumpkins and now use them as a little center piece on my kitchen table.


I love when such a great looking project comes together in less than 15 minutes 2 minutes!
